Iowa Central Community College Digital Mass Communications and Journalism instructor, Kelli Bloomquist, will be a featured presenter at the 2016 College Media Association convention this week in Atlanta.

Bloomquist, who is also the media adviser for The Collegian, will present two sessions at the convention. On Friday, Bloomquist will present Advising 202: Training Students which focuses on tips for recruiting and retaining student staff, developing student leaders, and training a media staff.

Later in the day, Bloomquist will also join a group of fellow veteran advisers for a roundtable discussion focusing on new adviser mentoring, journalism programming, student media advising, and print media classes. Advisers from Capital University, Tarrant County College, University of Southern Indiana, and Robert Morris University will also serve on the roundtable.

The two sessions Bloomquist will be presenting are part of an eight-course certification specifically for media advisers working in various areas of college media.

Last year, the College Media Association named Bloomquist one of the top media advisers at a two year institution.

Bloomquist has served as an adjunct instructor at Iowa Central Community College since 2011 and became a full faculty member in January 2016. Prior to teaching, Bloomquist worked in radio and print media for 20 years.
